100 Mile Jog Log: Day 5 & 6 (23.4/100 Miles) - Lagging Behind

in #fitness3 years ago

Hey everybody, this is Ace back again with a 100 mile running challenge update! This update is for two days because my running schedule had to change a little bit. Day 5 was supposed to be another 5.2 mile day, but in the afternoon it rained and so I had to find a ride instead of catching a cold via a cold and wet jog home, so days 5 ended with only 2.6 miles from the morning. Additionally, this weekend my plans had to change and therefore I did not do any running on Saturday even though I had planned to do an additional 5.2 miles then. Therefore, this week I am running about 5.2 miles behind and will need to really work to catch up so that I'm back on track for this challenge.

Day 5 and 6:
Because my plans had to change and day 5 only ended up consisting of the 2.6 mile run from the morning, I actually didn't push myself as much as I should have. That morning I had decided I would take it a little bit slowly since it was so cold, and instead push myself a lot in the afternoon run, so my morning time was pretty high at 2.6 mile in 44 minutes and 8 seconds. On top of that, because the afternoon run was rescheduled, I ended the day with more energy and felt a little bit bad about how the day ended up pacing out. I decided that from now on I would just go ahead and push myself whenever I can and not try to "save up" just in case unforeseen things happen again which changes plans.

Day 6 was however probably my best day yet! I felt really good in the morning, even though it was actually freezing, and I felt good in the afternoon, where it was still freezing! The only unique events that transpired was seeing all of the puddles along the road frozen, and also getting a new personal best time for 2.6 miles! My time for the 2.6 mile morning run was 37 minutes and 29 seconds, almost a personal best, and my time for the afternoon 2.6 mile run was 35 minutes and 9 seconds, a new record by 38 seconds! I tried to push myself pretty hard to make up for the day prior, but I actually didn't know that I had made it as quickly as my times indicated! All in all I am very pleased with my performance on day 6, but know that I will still need to push myself harder this week to make up for the days I lagged behind.

Thank you so much for keeping up with my progress, and please let me know if you have any comments, concerns, or questions! Until next time, have a great day and do great things!
