The Secret To Rock Hard Abs
Hey there steemians,
Today I'm gonna be talking about how to get those abs that elude most people. In this day and age I don't know anyone who doesn't dream at one point in their lives about getting abs. The problem though is that most people don't seem to be doing anything about it and some just decide that they can never achieve it. This maybe due to the fact that most people think getting abs is a tedious process involving endless crunches and sit ups. This is just not true.
Now there are four simple rules that if followed, anyone would be able to see results under four weeks of training. I should know because I used them myself.
- Choose an Abdominal exercise/ Workouts
To get abs, you need to choose the type of exercise you want and there are lots of them e.g crunches, sit ups, plank, v-up, Russian twist, bridges and so on. It doesn't matter which one you choose although sit ups and crunches are the most popular and convenient to do ( I personally favour sit ups ).
People think that doing sit ups or crunches up to 70 reps or plank for 3 minutes is the path to abs, this is so not true. As a beginner you should start with of reps within your limits, it can range from 5 - 20 reps ( it depends on you ) and with time you will work your way up to figures like 30 to 40 to 50 and beyond. Now when it comes to sets you should do nothing less than 3 sets, that means that if you can do up to 20 sit ups ( reps ) you should do that number at least 3 times ( sets). The more sets you do the better your endurance will be and the more reps you'll be able to do in the long run.
2 . Burn your fat
Everybody is born with abs, although it is covered by fat. Now the problem is that as we get get older this fat on our abdominal wall continues to grow, completely obscuring the muscle.
So in order for the muscle to be visible under the skin, the fat has gotta go and the easiest way to do this is by cardio exercises. The most common and effective is jogging.Jogging burns fat but it also tones the legs giving u that 'lean muscle look' that people envy.
Now while exercises like crunches make your abdominal muscles prominent, but jogging gets rid of the fat covering the abs; making the ab building process twice as fast.
3 . Rest
This is very important as it determines how fast you will be able to see results. It basically means there should be time for your muscles to rest in between work out days ( you shouldn't workout everyday ), this gives your abs time to rest and grow.
Now the ideal workout should have at least a day between workout days. This means that if you workout on Mondays and Tuesdays, Wednesdays should be workout free. Then you continue on Thursdays and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays should also be free ( 2 days on and at least a day off ).
4 . Be consistent
While the idea of getting abs appeals to everyone, most people give up along the way or don't start at all. This is due in part to plain laziness, a busy schedule, or boredom.
The best way to conquer this to remember why you want the abs in the first place, everybody has their reasons. It could be to impress people, for fitness purpose etc. Whatever it is just picture it in your mind and hold in to it, thus will give you the resolve to carry on, until you achieve your goals.
So that's it guys, with hard work and consistency you can achieve the abs of your dreams ( nothing is ever easy ). Start now and reap your rewards sooner, and surpass your limits.
