3 motivational apps for your training you MUST try! 💪

in #fitness7 years ago

I have tested the three apps FitBit, FitRPG and YouBetMe, which in their own way try to entice you in the exercise clothes and out the door. Common to them is that they are based on so-called gamification. That is, the use of entertaining gaming mechanisms - as set challenges and positive rewards - in non-gaming contexts. And the delicious thing is that gamification can turn sour training into fun play.

Fitbit

FitBit is a so-called self tracker, which is currently part of. FitBit is probably the most famous shot on the trunk, and the prize for the app is quite simple. It measures, for example, how many steps you take, how many miles you have traveled, and how many calories you have burned.

Additionally, FitBit allows you to make a logbook of how much you eat, drink and sleep, but where the app's real batter is the ability to link up with your friends and family. You can compare states, send encouraging words and challenge each other in tailor-made challenges. And on a rainy October day, it's a gift for those of us who are motivated by winning the mockery over their friends.

FitBit works immediately in conjunction with the mobile phone. However, some challenges require that you invest in one of FitBit's own training bracelets. It may be annoying to put the extra money, but in return it expands the experience and you do not have to train with your iPhone 6 Plus in your pocket.

Overall, FitBit is simple and straightforward and the perfect complement to the exerciseist, motivated by a social angle of training.

Assessment:

4 out of 5.

FitBit is available for both iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

FitRPG

FitRPG is a further development of FitBit and takes the gamification section to a whole new level.

Basically, it takes your state from FitBit and makes a character out of them. This character then uses you to take the fight against your friends' grades, fight bosses to rise in rank, and set up 'training missions' to win gold that you can buy weapons and equipment for.

FitRPG may sound like a real computer game, but the difference is just that the more you train, now your character becomes better. For example, real sleep improves your health points, exercise exercises give you additional strength and now more steps you take, now better experience and endurance get your character. Everything led to building a character that is superior to your friends.

The idea of making a decidedly role-playing exercise is fun and really motivating when it's running. The app has continued some small holes that require laping before it runs 100%, and for some it may be to take gamification a tooth too far. But for role-playing, it's definitely worth the experience.

3 out of 5.

FitRPG is available for both iOS and Android.

YouBetMe

The social betting app YouBetMe, as its name, refers to an app where it is about challenging each other in online betting. But even if you do not immediately want to put online betting, usually associated with online casinos and odds games and fitness training, the possibility of a real bet between you and your friends can be just the motivation you are missing.

YouBetMe enables you to tailor yourself on what things to be challenged. It can be anything from races to ping-pong, arm bends, throttles and bumpers. Limited only by imagination.

As a social betting app, YouBetMe is 5 out of 5, but it may not be the obvious choice for the training session. On the other hand, the freedom to tailor any challenge is a great opportunity to challenge yourself and your friends in the funniest ways.

And why should not it be in training?

If you are bitten by betting but would rather let others challenge each other, there are a number of betting sites that let you play the odds from the mobile, as you can read more about here.

Assessment:

4 out of 5.

YouBetMe is currently only released to iOS.
