Today I would like to talk about stretching.
QUESTION:
Is it necessary to stretching before workout?
ANSWER:
NO, but for warm-up is yes.
People thought stretching with warm-up is the same thing but it's not. You need to do warm-up first to wake up your muscles to get ready for the workout. Stretching is only to improve your flexibility. By doing stretching after workout would not reduce your muscle soreness, it's only a myth.
So, what is the stretching for? Like I did mention before, it's only to improve your flexibility. That's all! You cannot do stretching first because you will hurt yourself. It's like you pulling your kids when they're still sleeping, what happen? Same with our body, your nerve and muscle didn't wake up yet and ready but you suddenly pull it, of course it will hurt you and cause body cramp and other. It's good for athletes and for an example, a fighter will improve their kicking reach. It's okay for normal people didn't stretch their body as they only work on their Range of Motion (ROM). At the end, it's up to you either you want to stretch or not. Don't panic if you forgot to stretch your body because like I said it won't reduce muscle soreness but to reduce the risk of injuries are yes.
