A false grip on gymnastic rings is when you rest the heel of your palm on the rings rather than holding it with your fingers.

I walked home for 10 minutes holding 25 pounds of cat litter by the handle and thinking about grip training because of you. Baby steps for me. I'm actually considering doing timed holds of weights to work on the strength that way.
It doesn't take long for 25 pounds to start feeling heavy. Static holds and bar hangs are excellent for building grip strength.
