A few months ago I wrote an article about paying too much to big brand name supplements and how I think it is a complete rip off.
Well Last week I put in another order to re stock my supplements supply.
The company I use is called bulk nutrients.
I have tried many big brand supplements over my 6 year body building adventure, but I have found nothing works like the stuff I get from bulk nutrients and as a bonus their stuff is much cheaper.
I have a fairly extreme workout routine and do lift heavy weights most of the time. Because of this routine my muscles can ache like you wouldn't believe, but however since switching to bulk nutrients about a year and a half ago I have noticed the rate at which my body repairs is much faster than it ever was before I made the switch.
As a result my body doesn't ache like it used to and I have noticed that mu muscles repair in half the time.
☠️ So What Did I Get ☠️
Well I paid $237.50 AUD for my latest order.
For that I got:
☣️ 2 kgs of thermo whey. (2 months supply - $75)
☣️ 1 kg of glutamine. (This will last about 6 months - $32)
☣️ 1 kg of creatine. (This will last about 6 months - $19)
☣️ 1 kg of Essential Amino Acids. (This will last about 2 - 3 months - $59)
☣️ 1 kg of Branch Chain Amino Acids. (This will last about 2 - 3 months - $45)
☣️ 100 gram Amino Acid Flavoring Packet, (They recommend using one packet per kg of aminos, but I use one per 2 kg)
Thermo Whey
This is more expensive than my regular protein powder I usually get. but I really want to shave of 10 kgs and be a bit leaner so thought I would give it a shot. As you will see in the pics, I got salted caramel which tastes amazing and thought I would try their new flavor rocky road.
Glutamine and Creatine
I find these two amino acids to be a critical part of recovery after any hardcore workout.
If your body is achine all the time I would recommend giving there two a go.
Essential Amino Acids
Lots of guys who I chat with in the gym are obsessed with their BCAA's but for me EAA's are a critical component for any workout routine.
We have come along way with research in to body building, but we still know very little about the human body and bodybuilding.
EAA's are derived from the food we eat, and come from everywhere. Now I'm not going to get into the benefits of EAA's here as that's a lot of info but for me it's critical to get EAA's into your body while training and when your perhaps at work and can't have a second breakfast.
Branched Chain Amino Acids
BCAA's are another critical component for any body builder. BCAA's are well known for their ability to assist with muscle repair and recovery.
Supplementing these with EAA's really cuts down recovery times, which enables you to train harder and more frequently at the gym.
Amino Acid Flavoring
Trust me, if your going to move away from the big brands and switch to raw pharamaceutical grade aminos. Get some flavoring packs.
Now I use one packet per 2 kgs of aminos, although they recommend 2 flavor packs per 2kgs. But it tastes quite nice still.
Kind of like having a cordial which is not as strong.
Now for me I mix up my own flavored amino acids.
to do this I just use an old 1 kg protein power plastic container, I knew it was a good idea to keep 5 of these.
So I have one plastic tub for EAA's, one for BCAA's, one for creatine, one for glutaine and one for my protein powder.
I just pour the 1 kg of EAA's in one tub, pour the 1 kg of BCAA's on another tub and then pour roughly half of the flavoring sachet in to each tub. Now it doesn't matter how close to perfect the flavor amino ratio is as when I make my amino shakes I use the same amount of scoops from each tub.
Now I put the lids on and shake them for a min or 2.
Viola, I now have a cheap amino acid mix that is not full of inexpensive fillers and does the job.
Well I hope this post changes your mind about supplements just a little and helps you to makes more informed choices about your purchases.
I wish I knew this sort of stuff when I was first starting out.
Very Good! =]
Thanks :)
