If someone leaves a link of their blog or a .jpg of their art in the comment section of my article I do not give them my upvote. I give 100% upvote for people that leave relevant comments. "Nice" or "I like" it doesn't make the cut anymore. I thank them, sometimes I will upvote their content and follow. But this type of behavior is happening every day now. I'm am only upvoting relevant thoughtful comments and ignoring the others. It's really bad manners to post links to your blog on someone else's article.

I don't mind the links that are relevant to the conversation (for or against) as it opens new paths.
I don't mind links as in citations, but I've experienced many commentators using my comment page to advertise their work....that's bad manners or as you say, poor etiquette.
I agree with that.
