I could get along with an existence of a silicon life form, but the same story mentions that many of those trees were knocked down by explosions. Do you know what kind of an explosion is necessary to knock down a tree like that? It is too big to express.
Being a guru was always a cool job, why not. You just sell an unbelievable story, if it floats you made millions. It's no difference from what you mentioned, whether it is a book, or music, or something else of an entertaining value.
It is only good as long it serves something.
Jules Verne was mentioning things out of a sane mind. The Star Trek franchise is filled top up with crazy stuff. Nikola Tesla was called a loonie over some of his not so brilliant inventions or attempts of the inventions.
It doesn't change a fact that something good was squeezed out of all of them.
If any story has some sort of the practical application, no matter how crazy, it is useful.
A silicone life form that produces the energy and oxygen is a topic that deserves some attention. That could be useful if it is possible.

The idea of life based on silicon isn't really new (I mean just the idea), it comes from the structure of the atom of Silicon and the chemical bonds it can create with other atoms which are similar to those of the atom of carbon.
Actually it is funny that he still take part of real science to make up their stuff. Lol so they believe in quantum physics/atomistic but have problem with gravity (actually the spherical shape is just an effect of gravity of a very large mass)...
The silicon trees definitely cough my attention.
I showed this to some of my contacts, they all agree that the silicon tree is the most interesting part.
Atoms keep together by two distinctive forces, neither includes gravity, so flaterthers have no problem with that.
don't see the point... strong interaction/electroweak are short distance interaction. You can't hold 2 piece of macroscopic material by these forces. (and even then it wouldn't make the earth flat for simple reason of symmetry (action of these force are symetrical, which means you end up with sphérical shape at a point or another. You never end up with a flat disk.
Anyhow can buy a telescope and watch jupiter rotate on its axis, so at least by analogy that proof the earth is flat (even though you don't want to believe anything but your eyes)
