The black orchid (Coelogyne pandurata) is an orchid species that only grows on the island of Borneo. Black Orchid is the mascot of East Kalimantan province flora. Currently, the original habitat of black orchid has decreased considerable amount due to the shrinking of forest area in Kalimantan but still can be found in nature reserve grit Luway in small amount. It is estimated that more numbers are in the hands of orchid collectors.
Named the black orchid because this orchid has a black tongue (labellum) with a few lines of green and hairy. Sepal and petal are light green. The flowers are quite fragrant and usually bloom in March to June.
Black orchids are included in the orchid of the simpodial group with bulb form swollen at the bottom and leaves stretched over it. Each bulb has only two leaves. The leaves themselves at first glance look like leaves on coconut shoots.
