I just found this site, and this is a great way to help. If you are not in the FL area please find the nearest area to help your community in the wake of a disaster.
Volunteer Florida is the state’s lead agency for volunteers and donations before, during, and after disasters. Volunteer Florida mobilizes and deploys resources to assist communities responding to and recovering from disasters.
In preparation for Hurricane Irma, volunteers across the state are being mobilized to ensure our state’s shelters have the resources they need to open early and remain operational during this critical time.
Floridians who are interested in volunteering at shelters should complete training on shelter operations so that they can volunteer. The training qualifies volunteers to serve as shelter volunteers and/or manage shelters. The first step in the training is to fill out the application at the link provided. Once the application is completed, the American Red Cross will reach out to
volunteers to provide dates and times for expedited training.
To register as a volunteer with Volunteer Florida, please complete our volunteer registration form.
To find local volunteer opportunities, please refer to Volunteer Florida’s list of affiliated disaster response organizations.
