Today let me showcase the Ruellia simplex or commonly known as the Mexican Petunia or the Mexican Bluebell!
It has become commonly planted in my neighborhood because of its tenacity and survivability to the condition that we have here. It also require very little care other than watering and occasional trimming as this plant easily grows and thrive even with less care.
I like the kind of flowers it bears. The bees are attracted to it as well and that is maybe the reason why it easily propagates. The color of the petal appear to be on the blue-violet time or at least that's how I see it. Some will simply see it as a blue flower.
The petals appear to be very translucent when sun rays shine on it directly. Somehow, they appear very similar to a morning glory however there difference become visible upon. closer inspection. The flower of morning glory isn't as translucent as the Mexican Petunia so that helps in telling the difference between the two plants. Regardless, this Mexican Petunia is still preferred because it's a lot easier to manage. It can act as a hedge that will bear nice flowers too!
