The Frailejón is ideal to conserve heat and its leaves and even its flowers are covered by a soft furry coat as they grow their trunk become taller and remain covered by dead leaves that protect us from the cold.
It is endemic to the Andes of Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. It grows up to 4300 meters above sea level in the páramo.
