Following the appointment of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, the Supreme Court rejects oral mentioning.

Urgent hearing requests must now be sent by email or paper slip with the emergency's justification.
The Supreme Court, presided over by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, has made a major procedural shift by outlawing the oral mentioning of matters for urgent hearing.

Oral petitions for urgent listings would no longer be considered, the CJI said on Tuesday. Urgent hearing requests must now be sent by email or paper slip with the emergency's justification.

"No more oral or written mentions. only via written slip or email. In court today, the CJI stated, "Just state the reasons of urgency."

Though it was frequently employed in urgent situations like demolition concerns or impending arrests, the practice of oral mentioning under the time of previous CJI DY Chandrachud permitted counsel to verbally request urgent lists.
