My love for African salad popularly known as Abacha by Ndi Igbo (Igbo people)

in #food7 years ago

My community is one among the eastern parts of Nigeria that serves this delicacie to thier visitors it is a one of the most popular Igbo Recipe, many people don’t visit this part of the country and come back without having a taste of this Nigerian delicacy. As long as you are a visitor in my place, the first thing you will be served is this African salad (abacha) even before you are served water...oh yes this is how important this delicacy is there..
Do you know that, in as much as my people love this delicacy, i was one of those people that hate seeing it untill this delicacy arrested me....
I was opportuned to travel to Isiala- ngwa in Abia State to visit my aunty and on getting there i found out that they eat abacha every evening...at first i refused to eat it for some days but i could not bear going to bed on an empty stomach since my aunty did not allow me eat anything else, i decided to surrender...
U need to see my face that day but with time i fell inlove with this delicacy...today i eat abacha like no other...

This is a delicious Nigerian meal that is native to the ndi Igbo (people of Igbo). It has become popular in many parts of Africa as a result of its richness and great taste. It is indeed a dish that is gradually becoming popular among foreigners. Their main ingredients are Abacha and Ugba. It can be prepared as a main course meal or a fast food.

It's nutritional value...

African Salad has been proven to have a high nutritional value as it contains rich minerals like potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous and zinc. As a result of the other ingredients added to the salad, such as crayfish or meat, chili pepper and garden egg, it is also rich in protein and crude fibre.

Abacha can be bought from various markets in Nigeria and it is processed from Cassava, while Ugba, also known as Ukpaka is processed from Oil beans seeds...
For the sake of those that want to join me in eating this delicacy, here are the ingredients you need to prepare it at home....
Abacha, ehu, ugba, crayfish, maggi or Knorr, palm oil, edible powdered potash, utazi leaves, garden egg leaves, kanda/pomo, grounded pepper, bulb of onions, ogiri, dry fish/stock fish/meat...

Enjoy your meal...
