I don't necessarily think the Oreos have that odd flavor, BUT... I do remember the generic "sandwich cookies" that my school used to give us, tasting just as you described....burnt cardboard. I'm not a brand name snob by any means, but there are somethings that are just left best to Nabisco to take care of. LOL BTW: your brownie/cookie looks amazing....not that it's surprising. :)
