Delicious Caramelized Sausages

in #food7 years ago (edited)
Hi everyone! I know it's been a loong time since I've posted. Honestly between my job and university I haven't had the time to even sleep. Once in a while I could read and comment some posts but I used what little extra time I had to catch up on sleep. I use to post my recipes on Saturdays but since I had the time today I decided to post this one. This recipe is an invention of mine because I didn't have sugar and I really wanted to eat caramelized sausages; usually we caramelize them differently at home but I really liked the taste of them. Before giving you guys the recipe I want to wish you all a belated Merry Christmas, I hope you had a wonderful time surrounded by those who love you.

Ingredients

  • One package of 22 sausages
  • One can of pear juice
  • One beer
  • 5 tablespoons of butter
  • One onion
  • Some sweetener (honey, sugar, splenda). I used a stevia syrup with vanilla flavor.

First we cook the sausages for 5 to 10 minutes in boiling water. After they're cooked we cut them in small pieces.

While the sausages cook we cut the onion and cook them in a pan with the butter.

When we finish cutting the sausages we put them with the onion and mix it well.

We let the sausages cook with the onion and butter for 5 minutes and then add the juice, beer and sweetener (I used about 4 tablespoons of the syrup, if you use sugar it's about the same quantity).

All that's left is to leave it cooking in high heat until the liquid has almost completely evaporated and a caramel covers the sausages. It's important to stir as little as possible, just three or four times at most.

I ate it with sautéed potatoes and fried plantain, it's one of my favorite lunches.

I hope you liked this recipe and try it at home :) Leave any question, improvement or request for a recipe you'd like to know for next week in the comments. Until next time!
