Turmeric, often touted as "The Queen" of all spices is a humble orange root know from Indian curries that you should consider adding to your diet on a daily basis. If there is one spice that does it all then it is turmeric.

Tumeric's bioactive compound, curcumin, is known for it inflammation-fighting properties and may prevent Alzheimer’s disease and certain types of cancer. Furthermore, it can lower the risk of heart disease, can help treat depression, and may delay aging and diseases that come along with aging.

FYI: our body doesn't absorb curcumin very. Therefore it is important to add black pepper (which ups the bioavailability by up to 2000 times) and/or a healthy fat such as coconut oil.

Tropical Carrot Turmeric Morning Bliss


Ingredients (serves 2 for breakfast)


1 carrot
1/2 mango
1 cup papaya
3 passion fruits
1 cup pineapple
Freshly grated ginger to taste
Freshly grated turmeric to taste
2 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil (increase bioavailability of curcumin, turmeric active compound)
Pinch of black pepper (increase bioavailability of curcumin, turmeric active compound)
2 cups water
Hemp hearts (optional topping)

Directions


  1. Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Optional: Top with hemp hearts or your favorite toppings if you like.

Looks super healthy. And you are correct about the black pepper, it's needed for the body to digest and benefit from the curcumin. Great share.

I love making smoothies as well! I make them all the time in my vitamix. Such a good way to get extra nutrients in. Really interesting tip to use a fat or pepper with the turmeric!

Heya @abigailloveremo... what else did you put in there? I usually also put a green an other fruits in my smoothie. Not a fan of banana smoothie eiter unless you put lots of cinnamon and/or cacao powder. Wow. How sweet! Thanks for this ebook. :) I have a book on smoothies and juices , too, but I want to learn new combinations. Oh! I put some brown sugar , i guess and some kind of milk. But it didn't work. Okay, cacao powder... so it's like banana-choco smoothie. Oh, interesting.....
