REAL FOOD | UGLY IS THE NEW BEAUTIFUL πŸƒπŸ‹πŸŒ±

Greetings fellow fruit and veggie lovers. Today a friend gave me these wonderful tasting homegrown slightly ugly but very real limes from her garden. When she handed them over I immediately thought of @yasminep and her @yasminepcontest. If you haven't heard about this wonderful lady, go check her out.

For this week's challenge, Yasmine asked us to take a few pics of what real food looks like. So here we go. All these pics are taken with my Nikon D5600 and are unfiltered.

If we think of limes we usually picture a perfect lime-green, shiny little ball. Though we have that kind of limes at the market, I just prefer these ugly looking ones that haven't seen a chemical on their lovely brown-spotted skin.

Big and perfect shiny looking limes always make me suspicious when I see them at the market. All too often I see people opting for these perfect limes imported from Vietnam without giving them a second thought. Vietnam is famous for using and injecting chemicals in fruit and veggies to enhance their growth and give them the perfect shine. Not the kind of lime I like to add to my afternoon tea. What about you?

Don't be ashamed to ask questions about where your food is coming from on the market. We do it all the time.

I used these lovely tasting limes and organic mint from our local market to make a warming afternoon tea. Nothing beats a lovely cup of tea on a tropical, chilly rainy day like this.

Time to put my feed up and relax. Back to work tomorrow. I really enjoyed our 2 days off. Wishing you a happy and healthy week filled with the love of real foods ღ ღ ღ

Love it! Now I'm craving some tea with lime... ;)

Hehe. Thanks. I hope you got some of those key limes left ;)

They actually look quite cute, especially the way you paragraphed them Amy πŸŒΈπŸ’–πŸŒΈ

Thanks Lena. Ugly foods can be so beautiful and good.

Amy, I LOVE it! Thank you so much for taking part and for such an awesome post!

Thanks. Glad you like my ugly limes hehe!

Great post! I also tend to grab the ugly ones, just don’t trust those shine fruits and veggies in their perfect color and shape πŸ˜„

Same here. Ugly foods with funny shapes and a few spots are the best and safest.

Ah fab post @amy-goodrich! Great seeing limes in such a natural way!

Another thing we love about Cambodia.... food is everywhere and farming is still done in a very authentic way. Have a great day ;)

Aw that's great! What a great way to live :) Thanks, you too!

Love the post @amy-goodrich - these limes look way better than any in the supermarket and I bet they're much juicier! Perfect for a G&T.

Hehe. True that. A bit early here for a G&T though.
