Hello!
My dear fellow steemians. In previous chapters of discovering Nepal, I had portrayed the famous touristic sites of Nepal. Today I'd shall take to another visual journey through absolutely yummy, mouthwatering and deliciously delicious food items of streets of Nepal. Let's discover Nepal through narrow streets and lanes.
SEL ROTI
This is a sweet delicacy made up of rice flour, sugar, ghee and water. This is the food item of choice for auspicious occasions and festivals of Nepal. The sweetness not only tickles your taste buds but also its warm and soft buttery taste melts inside your mouth and makes you close your eyes, lean back and say 'yessss'.
DUMPLINGS WITH SPICY CHUTNEY
Dumplings, commonly known as MO:MO in Nepal, are among the most loved and popular street food which you can find at any nook and corner of the country. Just order a plate of mo:mos and you will be served with succulent dumplings dipped in spicy 'jhol achar' so rich in flavor that you will find yourself savoring every bit of it. Minced meat, vegetables and herbs inside flour steamed buns triggers immense satisfaction.
BARA PATTIES
This is a kind of a salty pancake made up of black lentils. These are best served with hot red chilly chutney or more often with potato pickle (aloo ko achar). Widely popular in streets of the capital city, Bara is a traditional food of Newari people. It is a kind of a heavy snack and usually can be made into flat breads, doughnuts or cutlets. It can either be eaten plain or with toppings of eggs and minced meats.
SEKUWA (Smoked roasted meat)
Sekuwa is typically meat roasted in firewood in a traditional country style. First, it is marinated properly with spices when raw. Then, when the meat is cooked, these juicy charcoal grilled chunks are served with puffed rice and pickles.
CHANA CHATPATE
Chana-Chatpate is the ultimate delight for any food lover that visits Nepal. If you can't tolerate spicy food then chana-chatpate is obviously the wrong choice; but if you can, then you shouldn't miss the master of all flavors, salty, sour, hot and absolutely delightful meal. Puffed rice mixed with peas and grams (chana), enriched with salt and chilly powders and garnished with fresh herbs and raw tomatoes, chana-chatpate engulfs you with mighty pleasure.
That's all for today.
