A hot meal for a cool evening

in #food7 years ago

Hello steemit world!
So this morning the weather started out in the 50's. As we're heading into the evening, we'll be looking at getting down into the 30's.
Ahh, typical Missouri weather. Gotta love it, right?
And of course, the dreaded everyday question came:
What should we have for dinner?
Usually my husband and I go back and forth what to do (and always go with the first option, haha) but tonight it was pretty obvious what the choice should be.

Chili!!

For a long time we just went with the good old pre packaged seasoning. About a year ago I got curious and decided to make my own seasoning. It's super easy and tasty! I noticed I didn't get that nasty filmy taste in my mouth as I did with the pre packaged, and can't go back. "How do you make yours", you ask?

You will need:

1 tablespoon Chili Powder
1 teaspoon Cumin
1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Pepper

Mix those tasty spices until your heart desires then stir into your chili!

Mmm, tasty! I know it sounds super weird, but I like mine served over a baked sweet potato. Perfect meal for a well, chilly evening!

Thanks for reading guys! Hope you all are staying warm.

Yes, it's definitely a perfect night for chili in MO with this weird weather comi by in! After being 64°F, it going to drop to 16°F

Isn't it insane?? And getting ice.. my poor kids, they want some snow to play in so bad. Beginning to think they'll never know what a good snow is, only nasty ice! Ugghh.
Hope you are staying warm! 💜

Mmm! We had teriyaki pork and noodles!! It was yummy!
