What the hell is Vorgeschmack? A really peculiar name. Literally it means "pre-taste", but its usually not used in the context of eating or food. Its describing a experience that lets you know whats happening soon - and usually something bad. For a dish thats a pretty daring name.
Well, may be it has to do with the jewish history of it - the Jews often had a weird use of german words, mixed with their Jiddish.

There is a lot of different funny crap in the world. And the linguistic quirks of a mixture of Swedish and German with a transition through Yiddish sometimes work wonders. The essence is in the taste, but not in the name. An ordinary herring snack
