Chocolate... Everywhere we travel, this is one of the things we love to enjoy along the way. There's so many ways to prepare and enjoy this delicious treat.
As we travel through Oaxaca, Mexico we keep hearing about this chocolate beverage that the locals drink instead of coffee.
Our quest to find it was on (and it didn't take long to find!)
Talk about delicious! This beverage is quite simple to make (we learned from the locals & will spill the beans a little later in this post).
Besides being delicious, it is traditionally served with sweet, soft sesame bread of some kind. The crust was soft and the insides were even softer & flakier!
To enjoy this beverage, you grab a chunk of the bread and dip it into the hot chocolate beverage... Yum! :)
How do you make this beverage?
Here's what you'll need to make this:
- Chocolate Semi-Amargo (this means semi-bitter)
- 1 litre water (or milk)
- Fine grater
- Blender or whisk
Directions
- Bring 1 litre of water to a boil
- Grate the chocolate. They told us to grate 1/2 a bar per 1 litre of water
- Put the boiling water and grated chocolate shavings into a blender or whisk until frothy
- Pour into coffee mugs & enjoy
Pretty simple, huh?
100% Natural Semi-bitter chocolate
Boil 1 litre of water (or milk... we used water but had it with milk at Comedor Colon and it was delicious!)
Grate the chocolate. They told us to grate 1/2 a bar per 1 litre of water
Put the boiling water and grated chocolate shavings into a blender or whisk until frothy
Zip! Nice and frothy!
Pour into coffee mugs (or in this case, Chocolate Beverage Mugs, and enjoy!)
