Preparation of Tuyom

Sea Urchin or commonly known for its Cebuano term "Tuyom" can be found in the vast seas of Cebu. For usual beach swimmers, the struggle can be really difficult getting away with the spiky sea urchin. Popular for its thorny physical appearance, plenty of people still long to indulge this unique type of local delicacy.

If you haven't tried eating "Tuyom", I suggest you try it. A word of caution though, there are certain types of sea urchins that are not allowed to be eaten or sold as they are protected. Be careful in handling "Tuyom" as they have really sharp spikes. "Tuyom" can be eaten raw upon removing it from the thorny shell with vinegar but if you want a little pinch of spice, you can add chili just to give it a little spicy kick.

How about you? Have you tried eating "Tuyom"? If so, share your thoughts below!
