Sprouted nuts, seeds, grains and beans are nutritional powerhouses. Just think about what they are for a second. Housed within their tiny, dry shells, they contain the potential to go on and create an entirely new plant.
By sprouting them you can harness that potential to access multiple nutrients, plus they are super tasty!
Our Sprouting Mix
Sprouting is incredibly easy. We use a pre-mixed array of various seeds, beans and legumes (and then add alfalfa to the mix).
There are many different commercial sprouting jars you can buy, however we just use an old take-away container.
1/2 cup of mix, covered with water
Cover 1/2 a cup of your chosen sprouting mix with water, replace the lid and then place somewhere in the light. After 12hours drain the water off and then rinse. Rinse them every 12hours after this.
You should start to see shoots appearing after about 36hours.
Close-up Sprouts
After 2-3 days everything should have begun to sprout. You can then store them in the fridge for up to 3days.
Add them on top of salads, soups, stews, sandwiches, stir-frys and more for a crunchy burst of flavour and nutrition.
