Morning Steemians! I want to share my first dining experience overlooking Sydney Harbour.
Located in Lavender Bay, 'Sails on Lavender Bay' offers perfect views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House to complement their fine dining menu.
The menu offers a contemporary interpretation of classic French cooking techniques infused with Modern Australian tastes, with a particular emphasis on seafood.
Decor
The decor incorporated lavender and blue hues, adding a nice touch to overall aesthetic of the restaurant. It definitely played upon the two colours that represent their location next to the water.
Entree
We received a complimentary dishes of freshly toasted sourdough bread and oil that was incredibly tasty. As well as this interesting dish (not sure what it was called but it tasted amazing, and looked cute too ahah)
We also selected the SEARED SCALLOPS, jerusalem artichoke, pipi veloute, broad bean, dill 29
Main
We ordered:
- PINK SNAPPER, calamari, zucchini, green olive, black garlic
- RANGERS VALLEY WAGYU FLANK (MBS 7), rapa, horseradish crème fraiche, bordelaise
- HAPUKA, asparagus, fennel puree, green tomato consommé
- MUSHROOM PIE, seasonal mushrooms, celeriac, onion lyonnaise, mushroom tea
My dish was the pink snapper and it wasn't too bad. The cook was cooked very well, with a crunchy outer skin and soft inside. However, toward the end I was quite bored of the flavour (there wasn't much of a hit or mouthwatering component).
Dessert
To finish it off we selected LEMON THYME PANACOTTA, macadamia, blueberries, sheep’s yoghurt sorbet
Final Thoughts
Overall, it was a lovely experience. It is on the pricer side because you are essentially paying for the location. I don't think i'll be back because I'm not too fussed about fine dining and would be more than happy to stay home and have a home-cooked meal at 1/2 of the price. That said, I'm not opposed to splurging and trying recommended fine dining places once in a while.
Also, should you wish to come and visit this place, I do recommend booking beforehand, especially during dinner as this is prime time for the restaurant that has limited capacity.
Let me know if you like exploring fine dining restaurants or prefer staying home to cook a 'fine dining' experience.
With Love,
Chels
