This holiday weekend has been stressful yet fun. Having family together is always a beautiful thing during the holidays and of course there is the cooking part.
I enjoy creating food but not so much the cleanup. Today I made meatpies, a favourite snack of mine.
Meatpie is made with carrots, irish potatoes, a level teaspoon of baking powder, a pinch of salt and the primary ingredient is beef or chicken if you prefer a chicken pie.
And the dough is made with 500g of flour and 125g of margarine depending on how soft you want it. Margarine is cut in cubes into the flour.
With your fingers you break the margarine in the flour mixing it until the mixture is like breadcrumbs and with little water added, the dough is mixed until it doesn't stick to the hand.
The dough is rolled but too flat.
Now we fill the dough
Water is used to rim the edge of the filled dough then it is folded and a mix of egg and melted margarine is used to brush the top. A fork is used on the closed edge to give it shape. Excess dough is cut out.
The dough is placed in a greased baking tray and placed in the oven of 200 degree Celsius for 15mins for both sides.
And finally you got meatpie. Simply yum.
Hi, I just followed you :-)
Follow back and we can help each other succeed! @hatu
