Yeah, in Chile, especially in the South, it is more a term of endearment than a negative slang. Where do you normally go?
I agree; in my case I am usually called gringuito...with the suffix ito that adds some tenderness.
I usually go in the fifth Region, near Valparaiso, where my wife is from. We try to go there every time here in Italy is winter, so from January to March.
