I don't think the Utah juniper grows out that way, least accordin' ta Wikipedia. They're in Baja, right? Maybe they eat/ate the California juniper. Not sure what the taste difference would be.
Well that may be true, The Paipai and Kumayay all lived in the general area of soutehrn California and northern Baja.
