I try to avoid whey protein as it affects me slightly. Therefore I was started searching for some alternative options and came across MyProtein's Vegan options. I decided to try their protein vegan chocolate chip, nut and vanilla flavour protein bar.
When it comes to protein bars, you cannot expect much, sometimes they are great, other times not so much. When I decided to purchase these bars I did not have high expectations.
My thoughts when I opened the box is, that is a lot of bars...I hope they taste good, otherwise, this was a waste of money. The price of these vegan hocolate chip, nut and vanilla flavour protein bar is £23.99 for 18 bars.
Appearance-Opening up the packet, first thought, I thought they were quite small in size, plenty of chocolate chips and you can tell it is made of nuts, as you can see small pieces of them in the bar.
Texture- Not too soft but not too hard.
Smell- It has some what of a smell to it, mostly smells of almonds and nuts as well as the pea protein.
Taste- First bite, reassured me of their naturalness. For me, the bar has some what of a strong taste, a little sickly for me. I find it hard to eat a whole bar without feeling a little sick after. As I mentioned previously, the bar seemed small, but it is not, because it is very dense and filling. I guess you can attribute it to the fat content from the nuts. They are also not very sweet, which is good.
The nutritional facts of these bars are 231 calories 12g carbohydrates, of which 5.7g are sugar, fat is 14g, protein 13g per cookie and 5.9g of fiber.
Would I buy them again?
No I would not buy them again. They are an okay tasting protein bar, but I would definitely bot buy them again, the taste just not do it for me
