Sate - I love it!
This sticks from the BBQ with some spicy souce.
Satay or sate (in Indonesian spelling), is a dish of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat, served with a sauce. You get this all around in Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
I got addicted to that taste during my first trip to Asia in 1989.
Satay may consist of diced or sliced chicken, goat, mutton, beef, pork, fish, squid, other meats, or tofu.
In Indonesia you will find sate ayam (chicken satay) on every island and even at many warungs, where the food is freshly grilled.
For me this taste and smell is deeply connected with all my travel to Asia.
The more authentic version uses skewers from the midrib of the coconut palm frond, although bamboo skewers are often used.
These are grilled or barbecued over a wood or charcoal fire, then served with various spicy seasonings.
Satay can be served in various sauces, however most often they are served in a combination of soy and peanut sauce. Hence, peanut sauce is often called satay sauce.
50 for 4
We just got 50 sate for a hungry family and the food disappears within minutes as it was so tasty or because we where do hungry.
All Photos are made by @detlev and are free to use. Picture where taken in Indonesia at Gili Air island at the Lombok region and there at the restaurant Le Sate Bar. This shop is really nice, fast, friendly and run by a French guy. Parts of the text are by wikipedia where you find a long and detailed post about all the different styles of sate.

Great to see you savouring the taste of life whilst enjoying time in Indonesia @detlev
Cultures and traditional ways of cooking make for interesting meals.
If only the beer would be better. ;-)
Die Bilder sind richtig gut geworden. Man hat den Eindruck als ob man live dabei ist.
Das hat auch richtig Spaß gemacht und der Laden ist super. Es hätte nur mehr sein können.
The pictures speak for themselves. Mouth watering pics. Had a nice meal. Thanks
Thank you, it was fun and a great place to do that pics.
Ich liebe Sate. Bringst du mir ein bisschen mit?
Das wird schwierig, denn sowie ich welche kaufe, fallen diese beiden kleinen Reisebegleiter darüber her und inhalieren die Dinger.....
I'd have them with fish as I don't eat meat. Looks like you are well fed on this trip. What beer are you having with them?
The pain here in Indonesia is that you always have to choose between Bintang, Bintang or Bintang.
Maybe at the end of our trip back in Bali will be a bigger choice
Krombacher :-)
Damn now I am hungry.......
There is nothing like spicy healthy food with great sauce. I am going to have to get some locally raised beef and make some on my BBQ with veggies from the garden and Tiger beer with ice!
Satay is fantastic! These pictures made me hungry.
So my plan worked!
Instantly wants food now!!
Proper satay (and damn those indonesians know satay) is an art man, and I could eat that everyday..
secret advice: use chicken thighs and give it time to marinate
LOL - that was my plan. ;-)
Das sieht aber verdammt lecker aus!
und das war es auch.....
So yummy
sate is one of my favorite foods @detlev
