American Flag Dessert!
For this super cute and patriotic desert you will need:
9 skewers
20 black berries
44 strawberry slices
35 banana slices
Flag shaped plate (optional)
Okay, let's get started!
On four skewers add 4 black berries and slide to the very top of each skewer. Next, on each of the four skewers alternate starting with a strawberry slice then to a banana slice. You should have a total of 4 strawberry slices and 3 banana slices to complete the first four skewers. With the remaining 4 skewers, start with the strawberries and alternate with the remaining banana slices. You should have a total of 6 strawberry slices and 5 banana slices total on each of the four remaining skewers. Last, line up to create the American flag. If needed, adjust the position of the fruit slices to make the stripes. I had this funky shaped plate that once I displayed the fruit, it really gave the added appearance of the American flag waving in the wind. It's a simple desert that doubles as a cool decoration until eaten!
American Flag Wall Art!
For this easy DIY, you will need:
10 paint sticks (usually can get free at any store that sells paint)
Red, White, & Blue Paint
White buttons
String
Hot glue gun
Painters tape
Ready, Set, Craft!
First, paint 2 sticks red and one stick white. Once dry, place the white stick between the 2 red sticks and use painters tape to create a boarder a little less than half the length of the sticks.
Next, paint the smaller section with blue paint. Once dry remove the tape.
Now paint 2 more sticks white and 2 more sticks red. Use the remaining 2 unpainted sticks as a back frame to glue the painted sticks on. Arrange to the separated width of your choice to create the American Flag. Depending on the width of your final product, you may have to break or cut down the length of the backing sticks. Next, glue white buttons on the blue paint to create the stars. Lastly, glue a string to the back to create a way to display your new wall art!
