Are you familiar with the Xihu Music Festival in Hangzhou? We knew basically nothing about it going in but played to something like 7k people. All with umbrellas. Downpour an hour before our set would cancel an American festival, but literally -everyone- had umbrellas. Surreal.

I'm familiar with the lake but not the festival. But it doesn't surprise me, the Chinese are always prepared for adverse weather conditions :)
I live in Hangzhou. I didn't even hear about the festival. I am sorry I missed it. What type of music was played?
It was a pretty great mix of styles with bands from a ton of different countries. My band is instrumental post-rock (think movie soundtrack music with loud electric guitars) and the band before us was a Chineese three piece rock/pop band that sounded like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. People seemed down for anything!
I'm not surprised people were open to anything. That pretty much sums up the music scene we have here. You are music sounds interesting. I can't quite imagine it. I'm glad you were able to add something to the city's experience. Hopefully, I will catch the next music festival. Good luck to you and rock on!
