Ramen Alternative and How I Got This File into My Laptop

in #food8 years ago

I've always wanted to try authentic ramen.

Of course, ramen is a style of noodle that is made with gluten... so I can't have that. I've also been eating vegan for almost a month, so the chances of me getting to enjoy authentic ramen are basically zero...

Unless I make it myself!

Yes!

This was so delicious! I found a recipe for making the broth that is used in a ramen soup, and substituted the chicken stock for my own homemade veggie stock. So we got that dietary restriction out of the way.

Ramen noodles are what make the soup "ramen", so I just had to take a hit on that one. I'm sure I can buy a gluten-free alternative online, but I wanted that soup now, so I substituted with rice noodles. There's the second dietary restriction- handled it!

Lastly, I topped it off with whatever veggies I had on hand, and it turned out amazing

On a side note, though, why was it so difficult for me to get this image into my laptop?

It took me two days to figure this one out! I was so frustrated! I've been dying to share this success with you all for over 48 hours. It's a miracle I survived.

My laptop only has one port, and it's USB. No SD slot, either. So I uploaded to Omar's laptop, and then uploaded it to Google Drive. So far so good, no problems there.

I logged into my laptop to download the file from Google Drive, and my Brave browser refused to download it. It just said "downloading..."

Indefinitely.

So I downloaded Chrome, and tried it there... and Chrome also refused to download it, but Chrome did it with flair. Where Brave just refused, Chrome said, "Okay here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna download a file. Maybe not this file that you want, but we will download a file."

And so it was that Chrome downloaded a URL for the log in page to Google.

Chrome! You did what?

Honestly, I was ready to rip my hair out by this point. So I whipped out my phone and downloaded it there, then attached it to an email I sent to myself where I was finally able to access the file for download into my laptop.

This shouldn't be so complicated.

Nice dish and funny technology story. Tech can be frustrating sometimes. Should "just work"but often doesn't.

looks so good! if you're ever not in the mood to make it yourself i still often dream of ramen hood in grand central market, downtown LA now that i'm not in the city anymore. all vegan ramen, complete with a vegan egg and i'm preeeetty sure they offer gluten free options!? such a treat when you're used to ordering vegan ramen at traditional ramen places where vegan just means like less of all the tasty stuff so in the end just bland noodles

Oh! Thanks! You're the best!

Sounds delicious! Gonna have to try this at home

Ramen looks good. There is no need to add meat, there are also vegan ramen reciepes :)
