Self Care on Our Day Off

in #food7 years ago (edited)

I loved those plant-based lettuce wraps that I made a couple of weeks ago so much so that I had to have it again.

The star of this show is the lemon pepper asparagus that I made using the zest from homegrown lemons.

For Omar, I made chicken thighs and pasta to go with the roasted lemon pepper asparagus.

And everybody got a serving of micro broccoli, including Wallace.

Love seeing your food posts! Keep them coming ... can't wait to co-create some magic in the kitchen together :)

You know its good if Wallace was on that! I wish my pets ate greens..haha

Oh he only eats them if I chop them up really tiny and soak them in bone broth. haha

That looks delicious- especially the chicken thighs- hope Omar appreciated your efforts. Broccoli does everyone good including Wallace- even though they may not notice :)

Really delicious food well done
Really great thing

Why is this taged vegan???

That's a valid question that I greatly appreciate you asking.

This is tagged vegan because my meal was vegan. The link to the recipe is included in my post. The reason why I included the meal that I made for Omar is because although I may be eating vegan for my health, I cannot force my partner to also walk this path.

I support Omar's path, whether it includes my health decisions or not. Therefore, I chose to show what I cooked for myself, as well as that which I've cooked for Omar.

As someone who is following a journey that their partner is not also alongside with, I feel that it is important to show the efforts we make as a couple with different goals in order to achieve said goals, while supporting each other on our different paths.

This is what makes a relationship flourish. We are all individuals, with individual dietary needs.

Thank you for asking such a pertinent question.

I understand your point Dear @ellemarieisme , unfortunately that is not vegan, but it can be classified as plant based. Veganism is not a diet, it is a lifestyle that avoids as much as possible to harm other living beings.

From the time I tranformed to vegan lifestyle, I do not cook non vegan meals for my family who are not vegan. They love my vegan food, but they also make their own non vegan food. Seeing and smelling meat makes me disgusted and I could never touch it and cooking it. This is how all vegans are and most vegans cannot even be with non vegan partner................many of us struggling with that. 🍌🍑🍍🍓🍇

Nevertheless, I am not judging your lifestyle.............choosing plant based living for health is an excellent choice, but is not vegan. I hope this helps to understand why I made that comment........... I wish you all the best and great health.

"Veganism as defined by Donald Watson (1910-2005), the man who coined the word vegan in 1944.

The word "veganism"denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

Thanks for the info.

I will be sure to avoid tagging anything else of mine with "vegan", as I am sure it would offend the vegan community.

Now that I have an accurate understanding of what veganism truly is, I realize that I am grateful to be spared the struggles that come with it. It sounds like quite the harrowing way to live if it's going to dictate/restrict your relationships with other people.

I wish you the best in your future efforts, and I hope you can make peace with your non-vegan family someday.

Pardon my misunderstanding.
