Control sugar intake counting teaspoons...and get slimmer within a few days.

in #food8 years ago (edited)

This was my dream-belly and I have finally managed to get there. My belly got shrunk from the very first day of my experiment without counting calorie intake...

Although, I have managed to get skinny but in the normal range - not looking like an anorexic person - I’ve always had a problem with my belly area. I’ve never liked it and always trying to hide it with wide clothing… I am sure that you have already heard about many kinds of different and ineffective ways to get slimmer and sometimes, even working out 2 hours a day is still not enough.

Still looking in the mirror, hoping that something will change...with exercise or whatever...

One day while browsing the web – searching about ways to improve my looks without even working out because I had no time – I know it’s an excuse – I was actually feeling bored…I found some very valuable information about sugar intake that have really changed my way of eating and therefore my body and my life forever.

I would hardly ever ignore the treat of any kind of sweet or fruit before starting to count daily sugar intake in grams or teaspoons.

I am not the person who could easily live her life without eating sweets. However, I’ve always known that something was really wrong with the way I was treating myself on the matter of sugar intake but I have not yet managed figuring out what was wrong…

As you may already know, there are two different types of sugars: the naturally occurred sugars (fruit – fructose, milk – lactose) and the added sugars (chocolate, ice-cream and blah, blah, blah).

Read this because – probably and paradoxically - it is one of the most important things that you have ever read about your health: The American Heart Association suggests that the daily amount of sugar intake for men equals to 9 teaspoons or about 37,5 grams a day and for women this amount equals to 6 teaspoons or about 25 grams a day. Now, one teaspoon equals to 4 grams of sugars (more precisely it equals to 4,2 grams) and that’s the trick, to simply start counting the teaspoons! I have actually started doing this like some kind of experiment…

I am sure that apples don't seem so innocent to you anymore

Let me tell you something else. Bananas are great fruits aren’t they? Stop making strange thoughts. Do you know the amount of sugars a banana contains? 3 teaspoons and you have already taken half the sugar that your body needs in one day – if you are a woman. Men are luckier – for one more time…

So, keeping this in mind, I simply started counting the grams of sugar that I was eating – before I eat every single food which may or may not contain even naturally occurred sugars. I mean, every kind of sugars, even the natural ones could count on your diet when you try to get slimmer or stay within the normal range of pounds based on your body type.

For example: I wake up in the morning and I drink my coffee which contains half a teaspoon of sugar (2 grams), after I eat 3 or 4 biscuits. One biscuit serving contains 1,3 sugars which approximately equal to 1 teaspoon of sugar (and something more). So, this means that I could eat about 4 more teaspoons or about 18 more grams of sugars within the day. That’s it. This is what I do and it works. Before eating something, especially processed foods, I always read the label which refers to carbohydrates amount and which amount of those carbohydrates equals to sugars.

Example of a food label. Nutritional information that you have to check, if you want to stay in good shape...

It is a very simple thing to do and I bet that no one has ever told you about this before because they want you to buy pills and whatever they want you to do, so that they can make a lot of money by taking advantage of your ignorance.

I have not only managed to get slimmer without working out, although you should and the fact is that I walk a lot but I have also managed to lower dramatically my cholesterol levels going from 230 to 130 within a month (LDL - bad cholesterol…). I know what you think, you believe that sugar only increases your sugar levels. Well you believe wrong. But that's a story for another time...

I allow myself to surrender to "sin" once a week...

Additional, suggested tips: I only drink lactose free milk. I also allow myself to eat trans fat and to go on extreme sugar levels only once a week. Let’s say that I eat very greasy food, like french fries and maybe an ice-cream…other than that, I never stop counting teaspoons like an obsessed person and I always stay on shape. And trust me when I say this: no matter what they “sell” you about gluten free or calorie diets or your hormones or your lazy metabolic system is a joke. If doctors or pharmacists say that you must eat 3 or 4 fruits a day to get slimmer, they most probably want to make you fatter to keep coming back, so that they can get their wallets fatter!
