Travel Blog 4: Unforgettable Italian Dining Experience | Modern Eateries| Italy in Ubud, Bali

Hello, Steemians!! This article is going to be full-on Italian dining in Bali. The best you can possibly get in Ubud.

It’s rather typical when most people planning their trip to Bali look forward to the amazing sandy white beaches, perfect temperature for sunbathing and water activities. However, the most important trip about Bali is their food. Besides the authentic cheap eat like ‘warungs’ which are amazing, I came across an Italian restaurant which is situated in Ubud, Bali. The restaurant left us with the greatest dining experience and the most wonderful meal we had in Bali.

Here's my top listed recommendation;

Uma Cucina | Ubud

Uma Cucina is an Italian-inspired restaurant which is located at COMO Uma Ubud, Bali. The restaurant also consists of lounge, outdoor and indoor dining.

If you’re craving for Italian cuisines in Bali, this is definitely a place to go to.They used the top-notch local produce such as seasonal vegetables, seafood and slow-cooked meats, hand-crafts everything to perfection just to serve the best to all diners.

The restaurant shows very high quality food control and consistency which makes their house specialty absolutely wonderful. When it comes to Italian restaurant like this, pizzas and pasta has to be their specialty but it does come with an extraordinary twist to it.

Besides, Uma Cucina also offer a wide dining area and also a lounge for cocktails and drinks before heading for your table for the meal. The ambience of the place is upscale yet comfortable.

We arrived way ahead before our reservation hour for dinner because we did some research and saw a lot of positive comments on their cocktails. So we thought, why not? The cocktails that we ordered are from the floral and spice category. The infused thyme and lemon gives it a relaxing yet refreshing taste to it. Which I fancy about it a lot. However, the other cocktail which was shaken with raw eggs is for people who love trying and exploring new drinks. It is no doubt really unique and leaving you a strong impression.

As for our dinner, we decided to go for a 3-course dining which includes of appetizer, main course and also a dessert. We first started with 2 appetizers which were Tonkuzen beef carpaccio that served with marinated mushrooms, pine nuts, arugula, Reggiano Parmigianino breadsticks and also truffle oil. The ratio of meat and fats on the carpaccio are to perfection where it melts in your mouth as soon as put devour it. The truffle oil gave it an extra fattiness yet an earthy and unique aroma and taste to it, make your taste bud dancing to the beat.

Next, we had Char Grilled squid which was served with white beans, shaved fennels, arugula, red chillies and lemon dressing. The squid was so smoky yet retains its juiciness and freshness of a seafood. With the extraordinary well-paired lemon dressing brought the whole dish to another dimension. The refreshing yet satisfying sauce was so well balanced with the tender and juicy squid, as well as the salad, made it perfect to start a meal. It is definitely a strong recommendation!

When you know that you're visiting an Italian restaurant, there is absolutely no way for you not ordering a pizza or pasta. As we did, we ordered their signature pizza of house-made pork and fennel sausages, Parmesan, caramelized onions and a slight touch of chilli sauce. The crust was falling pieces crispy, perfectly portioned with the balanced of fresh herbs. It is perfect for sharing as it's not a doughy crust that is going to fill you up easily.

Our main dishes came right after we finished out pizza. Since we were craving for some fish, we decided to go for a red snapper fillet and also a tuna steak. Both of the dishes are cooked so distinctively with care which makes us irresistible to devour it. As for the red snapper, it was cooked with the simplest ingredients yet resulting the best taste of it can be. The perfect grilling technique that the chef mastered made every dishes that we ordered exceptionally stunning. The slightly salty and sour sauce was extremely appetizing which the blanched vegetables balanced the meal with nutrients.

The yellowfin tuna steak was cooked medium rare where you can still see juices running out from the fish. It is complimented with stir-fried zucchini, bell peppers and onions that gave it a sweet caramelized flavor.

As for dessert lovers, there's always space for some sweet treats. We ordered their house speciality sorbet which were made from seasonal sour berries and also a strawberry cheese tart topped with sweet basil leaves. After the meal, we were left with a big smile and a rounded tummy! :D

While the total bill came to around 140 Euro including tax.
