Cooking with @fat-elvis - beef Jerky

in #food6 years ago

Hi food lovers.

There was a sale on inside round roast at a local shop. So I figured it was time for some beef jerky.

I mixed up some teriyaki sauce.

1 cup soya sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
3 tbsp raw sugar
1 tbsp crushed ginger
3 cloves of crushed garlic
2 tbsp sea salt ( for curing)

Thin slice the beef and mix it with the marinade.

Cover it and leave it for 24 hours in the fridge.

Now put it on a drying rack and into the smoker for an hour or so.

Then I dried it in my dehydrator for about 5 hours.

So tasty and no nitrates. It will keep for weeks in the fridge or can be frozen to keep longer. But let's be real, it won't last that long!!

Keep grilling and cooking.

Thanks man. It is fantastic! Smoky and sweet!!

yay, beef jerky recipe! thank you for posting this I really wanted to try doing some at home. yours looks really good.

Try it out! It's easy and rewarding! If you don't have a smoker.... Add a teaspoon of liquid hickory smoke to the marinade 😎. And you can oven dry if you don't have a dehydrator.

That looks so good! You may have inspired me to make some for myself @fat-elvis.

Do it! And try ground habanero peppers, brown sugar and apple cider vinegar for a flavour explosion!!

Now that sounds even better. I think I have some Jalapenos dried out from the garden last year still.

Mmmmmmm meat..... 🤤

🍖🥩mmmm. Meat!

😳 Omg that looks awesome!!! Love me some jerky, looks good fe!

Nothing like home made! And recipes are limited to your imagination!! Orange juice and curry? Sure why not! Dill and lime??? Why not!

Omg yum dude! We usually take about 10-20% of our kills and use it for jerky.

I did half of a white tail a few years back. I plan to take one with a bow this year and make a whole lot of jerky!! Nothing better... culinary wise... than deer jerky!

Fully agree. Very rich flavor even without adding any kind of seasonings or spices. My fav🦌
