There are days that I really feel like eating Dutch for dinner. I eat usually very spicy food, normally Indonesian, sometimes Thai or Indian, so it is a challenge not to put any chillies in my food because it wouldn't really taste well with this Dutch soup. It's also very rare that I eat meat. When I eat meat, it's usually chicken. I don't even remember the last time I ate beef.
Ingredients
500 gram ground beef
650 gram tomato sauce( with pieces of tomatoes inside)
2 bay leaves
1 Table spoon concentrated tomato paste
1 Table spoon cornstarch
2 Table spoon cooking cream
4 Table spoon fresh coriander
4 garlic cloves
1 Tea spoon salt
1 Tea spoon (4 seasons) pepper
750 ml water
4 spring onions (not in the picture)
Bread (optional)
Instructions
Take a large pan and pour in the tomato sauce and a table spoon of concentrated tomato paste with 750 ml water and leave it cooking on medium heat.
While the tomato sauce in cooking, the ground beef can be shaped in small balls. I added a bit of salt, pepper and garlic powder for a little bit more flavour. You can also do it without.
I added the meat balls into the tomato sauce and leave it cooking.
I chopped the fresh coriander and the spring onions. I took a small pan and poured in first a bit sunflower oil and then the bay leaves, spring onions, garlic and pepper. After a few minutes I added the fresh coriander and stir another minute.
When the mix is done, it can be added to the tomato soup and leave it cooking on low heat. Take a small bowl and mix the cornstarch with a little bit of handwarm water.
Pre-heat oven and put the bread inside the oven for 14 minutes. Put the conrstarch mix inside the soup and stir it well.
Once the bread is done, you can cut the bread in pieces.
You can eat the soup with or without the bread. I think it makes it tastier with bread. I also added the cream at last, to give it a creamier taste.
