Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden

in #food7 years ago

It is another fabulous day in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!

We made a delicious feast for our full time volunteers today on our indoor wood burning stove rather than on the rocket stoves of our sustainable outdoor kitchen. We stayed nice and toasty, had a fantastic meal, AND heated water for showers for super sustainable efficiency. As usual, there was more than enough food for everyone, and we are happy to share our abundance with you!

Today we made a great spread with boneless herbed pork chops, fresh salad, steam sweet potatoes, and sautéed veggies with parmesan cheese!

It was a delicious, wholesome, colorful meal with lots of yummy flavors and textures, and we gave away every sustainable serving for free!

We started with a crisp garden salad with dark green kale, red tomatoes, white cauliflower, crunchy cucumber, red and yellow peppers, and white onions.

We included one of our favorite foods - bright orange steamed sweet potatoes! These are bursting with beta carotene, potassium, and vitamin B6 and many other healthful compounds. They are very easy to make - just scrub the skins clean, poke with a fork, and steam until tender!

Most of us are perfectly content with plain, steamed sweet potatoes, or with a dab of butter and sprinkle of salt. Today we offered a few more condiments for our sweet potato and pork chop main dish, including sour cream, whole grain mustard, and sweet and tangy apricot preserves.

For our meat eaters, we prepared boneless pork chops with a mustard and herb glaze and pan seared them until the meat turned white all the way through.

For another side dish, we lightly sautéed green beans, onions, yellow squash, and sliced mushrooms, then sprinkled the dish with parmesan cheese.

It was a wholesome, sustainable feast!

Each plate was popping with bright colors and yummy flavors, and we had plenty of food for everyone!

Our friend @snake73 came over to learn the ropes of using Steemit from @quinneaker. He not only got a super steemy download for how to succeed on this revolutionary platform, but enjoyed our epic daily feast with us too! We sent him home with plenty of leftovers and groceries to last a week.

Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!

We do all of our cooking over fire, using wood that was otherwise destined to end up in a landfill! This is our indoor wood burning stove in action - it cooks our food, warms our communal space, and heats water for hot showers all at the same time!

Food is an honored & elemental part of our daily life in community. You can learn more about our unique, intimate, and super sustainable relationship with food here!

Photos are original to our epic feast and highlight just a taste of the thousands upon thousands of free meals we share every single year.

We are happy & grateful to share our abundance - there's more than enough of everything! If you or anyone you know wants or needs food, contact us - we will give you free food, no questions asked. We make this offer every single day, because we are here to help one and all.

Because we stand in support of the greatest good & especially the revolutionary potential of this platform, we've never cashed out any $teem or even powered down - which is good for everyone! This means that when you upvote our posts, you are increasing the value of your own $teem wealth as well!

Do you believe our efforts are valuable and beneficial for the world?

Can you match our annual contributions of feeding 40,000, saving 350,000 pounds of trash from the landfill, achieving a negative carbon footprint, providing a safe space for families and children to thrive, and educating hundreds of thousands of people for free?? If you don't have the time or manpower to change the world in this way, then consider sharing your resources so we can do the work for you!

Thanks for the support!

very exquisite food, a whole banquet, those chops accompanied by that salad of colorful colors and sweet potatoes, is sensational. I imagine that family reunion with all the people who give more food to volunteering, and all warm, that beauty of human beings congratulate you.@gardenofeden

The food is so tasty and healthy, if we keep the body properly will certainly be healthy always.

Health is wealth!

That looks absolutely delicious. I love sweet potato. You've triggered a trip to the supermarket :)

Sweet potato is awesome! Although supermarkets support the global military industrial complex so we haven't shopped at them in many years.

Yes I'd like to be more sustainable. When I get my little cottage in the country that is the goal. I'm just terrible at growing anything. I even managed to kill a bamboo plant once.
