Mouthgasmic Food Formulas: Applesauce!

in #food7 years ago

We are grateful for the opportunity to share food here in the Garden of Eden!

One way we do that is by giving away free food every single day, and we extend the offer to you too because we are here to help one and all: if you or anyone you know wants or needs food, contact us - we will give you free food, no questions asked.

Another way we do that is by preparing daily feasts for our full time volunteers and having communal meals together, which we love to share on the blockchain!

Photographs are a great way to share food across time and space to bring people together, and we also love to share the recipes behind the photos to inspire you to recreate the yumminess in your own kitchen & share with family and friends!

Today, we want to share an excellent food formula for a big batch of APPLESAUCE:

Prep Time: 10 minutes to start, 20 more after cooking starts
Cook Time: 40 minutes
Makes: about 8 quarts

Ingredients:
Lots of Apples! We used about 50-60 for this big batch
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
Cloves
Coriander
Salt

Method:
Peel, core, and chop apples.

Blend them up in a blender or food processor.

Heat a pot with about a teaspoon of butter or oil in the bottom. Add puréed apples to the pot and bring them to a boil. Boil for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently.

Turn off he heat. Add spices: sprinkle, taste, sprinkle, taste, etc., until you love it! Allow it to cool some more, then go back for one final taste before putting it all in jars. The flavors will mellow and be less intense once the sauce is chilled, so go ahead and make it a little on the strong side.

Put your applesauce in jars and then into the fridge. Get one out and serve it whenever you want! This applesauce is an excellent go to food for moms with babies or little kids when they are hungry NOW and there isn't much else prepared yet.

To sweeten the deal even more, add a little honey and sprinkle of fresh cinnamon on top when you serve it.
Enjoy!

Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!
