Hey Steemians! IT's FRIDAY!! How about a festive flavor cookie?
ALL CONTENT IS MINE AND ORIGINAL! All of these food photos were taken with my Nikon D5300 and my favorite Lens, the Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G, Most all of the time, I cross post on my personal blog.
Rough week in steemitville. The price continues to drop resulting in smaller and smaller payouts. Rouge bots attacking content providers, what a drag. But, you didn't click on this post to read about that, so, let's move on.
I could not post yesterday, just way too much going on. My streak of posts was broken, what a bummer. But, I am back today and should be able to post more tomorrow as well.
RECIPE
Prep Time: 50 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour, 5 minutes
Yield: 3 dozen
Ingredients
Cookies:
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 sticks(1 cup) + 2 tablespoons butter, ice cold
1 egg
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon maple extract
Icing:
1/2 stick (1/4 cup) softened butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 tablespoon maple extract
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
A. In food processor, whip butter and sugar until smooth. Add the egg and continue pulsing a few times until combined. Add all other ingredients and whip together forming your dough.
B. Roll the dough into small balls (about 1/2 tablespoon), lightly dip into powdered sugar, and flatten into disc with something smooth like a spatula or the bottom of a bowl.
C. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 C).
D. Place dough on parchment lined baking trays and bake for 6 - 8 minutes. Be sure to watch carefully until edges are golden brown.
E. For the icing, stir together all ingredients, except powdered sugar, until smooth. Slowly beat in each cup of powdered sugar and whip until smooth.
F. For best results allow the icing to dry for about 1 hour before serving.

Any other option for the filling if we don't have maple syrup? what would be the best replacement?
that's a good question. When we first moved to Chile we did not have maple either. I have not ever found a substitute for maple, unfortunately. It's such a unique flavor that it's very difficult to replicate. Sorry, wish I had a sure fire answer for you. Thanks for commenting - Steem ON!
