I grew up with a flutter in my tummy over "things that come in a B-O-X." My grandfather had a policy about mealtimes. Clean plate equaled a treat from the 'B-O-X' which was usually Brach's chocolates of some kind of other. No clean plate, no B-O-X.
In later years, I learned to live and even think mostly outside of most boxes. This way of being lends an extra kind of flutter to special things that come in special boxes. Huitres are some of these. That being the French name for oysters.
Consider the oyster and how it grows. Nestled cozily in a protected bit of sea, it grows its own box. What is inside? Delicious slippery goodness? Just the right amount of brine? A pearl, perhaps? Well, not in these I suppose. Not left to their own creative devices quite long enough. Gathered, instead, to provide gustatory delight.
The Huitres de Normandie are sweet, succulent, and incredibly fresh (because the markets get them 'day of capture' so to speak), and they don't stay in-store for long. These are from a seaside village outside of Dieppe, not 40 minutes away! Imagine! A quick trip to the coast and little treasure chests of deliciousness wait to be discovered.
What wonders are available to us when we open the box?!
With so many of my belongings recently gathered in once place, many are still in a box. The few treasures that have popped out of the box, are truly delightful & welcomed back into my life.
Unboxing shifts our realities quickly and osmetimes deliciously!
