Buffet Dinner and Lots of Photos at Casa Del Rio / Jonker Melaka, Malaysia (Original Content As Always)

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Hi guys, welcome back to another post on food and photography! I had a buffet dinner last night at Casa Del Rio Melaka, which is facing the Melaka river. It's just meters away from Jonker Street so if you've been there, you may know where this hotel is.

What's awesome about the hotel is the location and the fact that it's facing the river! It makes the ambience so much better and it's quite relaxing to dine there.

A fountain inside the hotel.

A better view of the hotel.

Really nice cozy place right outside the restaurant. There's a huge pool but I'm not sure if it's for swimming or just for ambience. You can sit there and order some drinks. Great place for a hangout.

Scary walkway from the toilet.

Main entrance for the buffet.

What I didn't like about it is the spread and the fact that they didn't replenish some of the grilled items. We went a little late (8 pm) but the buffet's supposed to be until 11 pm. I thought it wasn't very professional. I prefer Ramada hotel for a buffet dinner, but there aren't much awesome choices in Melaka. I LOVED the buffet spread at Shangri-la Kuala Lumpur but it was MYR 188 per person!

We reserved a table before we arrived and the first thing we saw was my dad's name. LOL they wrote that on a real legit leaf.

The overall decor looks expensive. However, we chose to sit outside as it was cold inside. Furthermore, the view is much better outside.

The place is pretty dim so the pictures have a lot of noise.

This one was taken with flash. Not a big fan of flash as the lighting is not balanced. A random mix of pasta, steak, chicken curry, lamb, briyani rice, baby octopus and a mussel.

This one is pretty similar except with the addition of satay and greens.

Overall a pretty cozy environment.

The lighting is pretty yellow. Kinda prefer this compared to white lights.

They had live music that night.

More food!

Omnomnom. Kinda hate how the photos turned out. Took it pretty quick as I was carrying a plate with me.

Their dessert which is mainly filled with nyonya kuih. They had bread pudding with vanilla as well. Not the best I've tried though.

Their appetizers! I think a lot were already finishing..

It's like you came late to a party and most people had their share of the food! Prawns and mussels.

I didn't try this one. Crabs I guess.

Luckily they had some freshly made pizza after we arrived.

Some of their desserts.

Bread pudding with vanilla and some fruits dipped in the chocolate fountain.

The inside of the restaurant.

Another angle of the dessert table.

After dinner, we had a walk outside and we passed by the back of Jonker Street. Check out some of these photos.

The back of the hotel where we sat for dinner.

You should be able to see the revolving tower in the background. Basically you can see most of the city area of Melaka from the tower.

I like the lights at night. Love the different colors!

Do you like the colors?

I took this pic because of the colorful reflection on the river.

Lol the live band shifted place!

Side view of the hotel. It's connected to the walkway.

Opposite side of the road. There's a water mill decoration. It used to work (only for awhile) but I think it has been broken for years.

The boat rides are really popular. It's called the Melaka River Cruise.

Some Chinese writings on the wall. Too bad I can't read it.

The small bridge connecting the two sides of the river.

You should be able to see the end of Jonker Street in this photo.

What I don't like about it is the crowd! It's always so crowded and you can't walk without pushing others.

The trishaws are a main attraction here. There are lots of them in this area.

Even the foreigners are selling stuff here! Some handmade craft. Right in front of H&M.

All kinds of decorations on the trishaws. Doraemon, Pokemon and whatnot. They're normally equipped with very loud music as well.

View from the bridge.

Hard Rock cafe in the background.

Look at the blinding colors!

You'll notice a lot of European influence in this area. We were invaded by the Portuguese, the Dutch, the English and the Japanese. You'll see a mix of culture here. There's a clocktower and an Anglican church in the background.

That's about it! I hope you guys enjoyed the photos!

As usual I appreciate all upvotes, resteems and follows.

Last time you work in KL, but your hometown is in Melaka?

Lol i can only imagine when that happens.. I worked in KL for awhile only. I'm normally in Melaka. :)

Haha.. join our next gathering lah... My girls will normally be tagging along... Then you can witness first hand... no need imagine... oh... So next time if I go Melaka, I can buzz you.. and you can bring us go makan-makan...

Great food, must be a yummy meal. Malacca looks so beautiful at night. Feeling a bit hungry now, ha ha.
