This is a comparison between two global food delivery companies. As seen by a delivery rider in Belgium who works for both of them.
Both of the companies ask for a 2,5 euro delivery fee from the customer and a 20-30% comission fee from the restaurant. As the delivery fee is the same and they deliver mostly from the same restaurants (Deliveroo sometimes asks the restaurant to be its only delivery option), there is no favourable option for the customer.
Who pays best?
There is a big difference between the payments for the employees of the companies. Both companies pay the delivery riders for each order. Deliveroo works with a basic 5 euro per delivery and bonusses (when you deliver alot of orders in two weeks time). Meanwhile UberEats pays 2 euro for the pickup of the order, about 1 euro per km you have to cycle and 60 cents for the dropoff. The total amount of the order gets multiplied by 1,2 or 1,3 (depends on distance). When it rains you get an extra bonus at UbearEats.
As you can see the UberEats payment rate is a more honest way to pay the riders, since they get paid by the distance they have to cycle.
Where do the riders earn the most?
It all depends on the amount of orders available and the amount they can deliver in an hour time. Deliveroo works with 1 hour shifts where you have to sign in (only a few places per shift). Meanwhile you can work whenever you want at UberEats. But if alot of riders are online this can lead to a very low amount of order for each rider. And basically results in a low pay.
(This basically explains why I work for both of them. When there are alot of UberEats riders I switch to Deliveroo and still get payed quite a good amount.)
Who is the best?
Overall, I prefer UberEats since they have a better pay rate, better clothing and good management. But the work whenever you want method is a downside of its system.
(This is just my opinion, maybe yours is different, let me know in the comments)
