Honey is the only food product that never spoils, there are others that can last a long time but this will depend on the way they are stored, even though they can not match the honey.
But why does not honey spoil?
Well, I'm glad you asked.
Honey does not contain much water because it is a sugar and, sugars are hygroscopic.
As such being a substance with very low-moisture, not many bacteria can adapt and survive, for this also contributes PH of honey that is between 3 and 4.5.
Humble bees also contribute to the "immortality" of honey, when bees consume nectar a chemical process occurs in their stomach through the action of an enzyme.
The enzyme produces hydrogen peroxide which is then regurgitated by bees thus helping to keep honey free of bacteria.
