Here is my second entry into the "a smoothie for @smooth" #steemitculinarychallenge.
Thanks again to our gracious host @woman-onthe-wing and to this week's fabulous judge @rebeccaryan. Some awesome smoothie posts are up already and I'm excited to have some new recipes to try!
This red and yellow layered treat combines a peach-raspberry fruity layer with a papaya-turmeric earthy and pleasantly sweet finish. Each layer is packed with nutrient-dense ingredients, and the bright colors will make sure you're at attention for the day ahead!
This smoothie packs such a nutritious punch! Turmeric is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents. Papaya is great for digestion and has more than your daily need of vitamin C. Finally, the superfood bee pollen makes another appearance, with immune system support, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Ingredients
For the red layer
1 cup raspberries
1 cup peaches
2/3 cup coconut water
1 ripe banana
1 T bee pollen
1 t vanilla extract
For the yellow layer
3/4 cup grapefruit segments (you could use orange too).
1/3 cup plain yogurt
3/4 cup papaya chunks
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 t ground turmeric
1 ripe banana
Directions
- Blend up the ingredients for the red layer, and set aside.
- Blend up the ingredients for the yellow layer, and set aside.
- Alternate the red and yellow layers however you'd like.
- Pro Tip: If you want your layers to be clean-cut, stick the glass in the freezer for a few minutes between adding each layer. That way, the previous layer has a chance to firm up a bit before the next layer is added, and so on. Or, just dump it all together and drink it up!
Now get to it and make your own!

Another stunning entry from @jaymorebeet - wow! Fabulous colours, and your photography skills allow us to appreciate it in all its glory! Great tip about freezing inbetween layers, I'll remember that one thanks!
Thanks @woman-onthe-wing! A little turmeric goes a long way toward the vibrant yellow! I definitely learned by trial and error - but yes, a brief chill in the freezer lets you get some crisp layers.
OMG! Mouthwatering, looks sooo good and I'm very hungry at the moment! Great recipe and photos, especially with blending from top :)
Thanks so much @some-think! It was so good - you should definitely try it. A little turmeric goes a long way!! Thanks again :)

Congrats on this epic entry! Your use of color and flavors is awesome. I'm not nearly as photo-savvy. Must keep practicing 😉. Followed you to get more great kitchen inspiration. In the name of great smoothie-recipe swapping, I thought you might like to check out my latest recipes for "delights in a glass" I like to call the "Hawaiian Peter Pan" and "The Marley Cooler." Enjoy, and here's to great drinks!
