In my introductory post, I said that I love cooking. It's my passion. It's my thing.
I want to share with you some of my most favorite food I prepared for the last two (2) years. I will also be posting the inspirations why I cooked each food.
In 2016, I took a picture of the vegetable salad I prepared for myself. It consist of carrots, egg, chicken strips, lettuce, cheese bits, mayonnaise, and catsup.
Fast forward to February 2017, I cooked an egg roll for @debilog when I visited her in Metro Manila. It's her favorite.
The egg roll is cooked in low heat and should be thin to be able for it to be rolled. The ingredients are beaten egg, diced carrots, diced spring onion, salt and pepper.
A few months later, @debilog and I craved for sushi so we tried to make our own. All we needed was dried seaweed wrapper, japanese rice, salmon, crab meat strips, prawn, zucchini, and mango. For the seasoning of the rice, we prepared vinegar, sugar, and salt.
On our next date night, we made Tacos. We bought Nova chips for this. We included tomatoes, spring onion, cheddar cheese, mayonnaise and catsup. It's simple but delicious.
We also made our own version of lumpia or fresh spring rolls. We used transparent rice wrapper, carrots, cucumber, lettuce, chicken strips, and peanut dip. The peanut sauce is just a mixture of peanut butter, warm water, and hoisin sauce.
Buttered prawns are what my younger sister, Cathy, loves the most. So I cooked the prawns on garlic and butter and I added some seasonings.
I also tried to invent a salad which consists of squid, diced apple, diced carrots, diced red bell pepper, cheddar cheese, and lettuce.
I love inventing risky recipes. I once cooked a curry pasta. First, I cooked the noodles until it's al dente. Then, I cooked curry with small chicken pieces. I combined them and topped it with onion, scrambled egg, and sunny-side up. This meal is heavy but it surprisingly turned out well.
Since it's been a while after I made a veggie salad, I made another one a few months ago. The ingredients are the usual: cucumber, tomato, carrots, salted egg, onion, and an all purpose mayo.
My gf and I love animes and we also love Japanese food. I cooked Ramen for us. It's inspired by the anime Shokugeki no souma which is mainly about battle of cooking. I used dashi broth and secret seasonings. I topped the ramen with marinated pork belly and some spring onions.
Inspired by the same anime, @debilog and I tried a shokugeki. We battle with our cooking skills. I made a mashed potato volcano stuffed with buttered mirepoix. It was inspired by a british dish which I forgot the name. I have a British friend named John, and I think it was also inspired by him.
Aside from Japanese food, we also ventured to Korean food. Our favorite is Samgyupsal but we also love bibimbop. I tried my own with limited ingredients.
Lastly, this dish is called kare-kare in the Philippines. Its sauce or soup is made of peanut butter base. Please forgive the lighting and quality of the picture. I put a twist in this dish by adding isaw or grilled chicken intestines and chicken liver.
They all looks so grand
Thank you @teevmoore
