Welcome to this new post. As I announced in my introductory post, I will talk about my country Colombia. In this occasion I have brought for you some aspects that I consider important at the moment of traveling or moving in the Colombian territory. Colombia is a territory with a diversity of climates, fruits, vegetables, tubers, landscapes, customs, accents, geography and mineral resources. Next, I will start by showing the different regions.
Caribbean
The Caribbean region is a plain located in the north of Colombia. It is bordered on the north by the Caribbean Sea, on the south by the Andean region, on the west by the Pacific Ocean and on the east by Venezuela. The Magdalena River, as the main current of water, crosses its territory and this at the same time shares it with the Rivers Sinú, San Jorge, Atrato, Cesar, Ranchería. The main cities found in the Caribbean region are: Cartagena, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Riohacha, Monteria, Sincelejo, Valledupar. On the Colombian Caribbean coast is the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, which is near the sea at an altitude of 5560 meters above sea level. There is also the Perijá mountain range that borders Venezuela. With an average tropical climate of 27° C.
Andean Region
The Andean region is made up of three mountain ranges: eastern, central and western. It is bordered on the north by the Caribbean region, on the south by the equator and the Amazon region, on the west by the Pacific region and on the east by Venezuela and the Orinoquia region. The rivers that cross this region are: Rivers Magdalena, Bogota, Catatumbo, Porce, Chicamocha, Cauca, Nechí, Sogamoso, Patía. The main cities found in this region are: Bogotá, Medellín, Bucaramanga, Cúcuta, Manizales, Ibagué, Pasto, Neiva, Popayán, Armenia. With temperate climates (18° C average) and turna (below 10°c).
Pacific Region
The Pacific region is located on the Pacific Ocean coast. It is bordered on the north by Panama, on the northeast by the Caribbean region and on the south by Ecuador. Its main cities are: Quibdó, Cali, Buenaventura, Tumaco. The most important rivers that cross this region are: Rivers Atrato, Baudo and Patía. This region has two important mountain ranges, La Serranía del Darién, La Serranía del Baudo. And with a spectacular climate of 18° C average.
Orinoco Region
The Orinoquia region is located in the east of Colombia. It is also known as the eastern plains. It is bordered to the east by Venezuela, to the west by the Andean region and to the south by the Amazon region. Its main cities are: Villavicencio, Yopal, Arauca, Puerto Carreño. Rivers Orinoco, Guaviare, Meta, Vichada, Tomo, Arauca and Casanare, cross this region. This region has a climate of 28° C.
Amazon Region
The Amazon region is located in the south of Colombia. It is bordered on the north by the Andean region, on the south by Peru and on the south-east by Brazil. The region occupies 35% of the Colombian territory and shares with Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia the great forest reserve of the world. This region is home to the Amazon, Putumayo, Caquetá and Vaupés rivers, and has a climate of 20° C.
Insular Region
The Insular Region is the one that includes the islands, the cays, the islets, ect. The islands of Malpelo and Gorgona, the Archipelago of San Andres and Providence are found in this region.
These are the different Fruits and Vegetables that are harvested in Colombia.
