Hi there Steemians!
I hope you had a wonderful lunch. As for me, I did enjoy a simple dish of sauteed shrimps and cups of rice. Evidently, I love these crustaceans however it is prepared. Besides crabs, I am fond of shrimps too.
What's cooking?
It's been quite a while since I have eaten shrimps. I am excited. Before we consume it, let's cook it first.
What I did was an effortless and an uncomplicated cooking session. After rinsing or cleaning the shrimps, I put in the shrimps in a heated wok. Add some salt and saute the shrimps from time to time in medium heat, until the shrimps' color would turn reddish. Then, I add some pepper. That's it and then serve with rice.
You can make use of this dish as an added ingredient. I make soup out of malunggay leaves and a few shrimps on it. It's simple you just boil at least two to three cups of water, then add in the shrimps and malunggay. Simmer for a few minutes until it boils again. Then, add salt and seasoning to taste.
Do shrimps have health benefits?
Indeed, they do! (article source)
Shrimps are a good source of protein, in addition to their water content. Besides that, they provide several nutrients such as selenium, vitamin B12, phosphorus, copper and of course, iodine.
Shrimps also contain antioxidants which help fights free radicals that damage cell membranes and DNA resulting to premature aging and disease.
Shrimps are low in calories, but they are high in cholesterol. So, make sure to consult your doctor on the proper intake, and follow your doctor's advice on dietary cholesterol.
That's a nice one! Thank you for sharing. :-)
