Hy there, am on again. In this post i want to talk about some of tghe very common and tasty nigerian dishes that can be found in all nookls and cranies of the country ranging from opublic functions, to celebrations, to funerals e.t.c.

Before i go into details, i think its damn necessary to point it out that african culture in general places a very great importance to h9spitalituy and it is so evident that even in funerals, guests have to be entertained massively. Entertaining the guests with food has a very positive impact on societal beliefs for example, aperson with a higher status in the society entertains his/her guests just to show prestuige and the level of entertainment can also be used to estimate how generous a person is.

COMMON DELICACIES

In every restaurant, function, celebration or gathering in nigeria, one of the sure delicacies on the order list is jollof rice

jollof rice can be served with fish, beef chicken or any type of meat available and it has several methods in which it can be cooked.

SOUPS

A function, celebration or event without soups is not a celebration. Unlike that of European culture that is serve to welcome guests and used as an apetiser, soups are the core food and it displays the rich cultural heritage of the nigerian people and africans at large. Soups vary according to the different ethnic groups . The igbos have egusi soap, bitter leaf soup, oha soup e.t.c

The soup is usually served with garri, of fufu(processed cassava) and pounded yam.

PEPPER SOUP

Pepper soups are one of the most commonest and most enjoyed delicacies that can be served anywhere, anytime, anyplace. Peppersoups can be served with Rice, yam, can be eaten alone and it can also be used as an apetiser .
Apart from the fact that peppersoups can be served in various forms they can also be prepared in various with chicken, goat meet, beef,pork,snail and even snake meat
